Spoonfuls Of Honey

Spoonfuls of Honey

I’ve been thinking lately about honey.

Sweet nectar gathered slowly

by bees and flowers

across fields and seasons

Nature’s generosity in a spoon

There is something sacred about honey too.

It has long been stirred into

ritual,

healing,

friendship.

The comfort it infuses

On hot buttery crumpets

melting slowly

 into cold winter mornings

Stirred into freshly brewed chai

hands wrapped around a warm cup

while gathering in conversation

The warmth of golden nectar

lingering on my tongue

a sensory remembering

of the sweetness of ordinary things

tasted slowly

like spoonfuls of honey.
