We The People

I wrote this poem after witnessing how many people gathered in peaceful protest for the No Kings march in America over the weekend.

Over 8 million people, across more than 3000 cities, standing for justice, for dignity, for truth.

Whether we are in the United States, Australia, or anywhere else in the world, we are all feeling the effects of what is unfolding on the global stage. In the rising cost of living, including ridiculous petrol prices, and the grief of innocent human lives being lost to war.

And we are left asking-

For what?

These times are asking us to stand together, shoulder to shoulder, and heart to heart, in solidarity and collective activism.

This is shared work.

To remember that each of our voices do matter and that the heart of humanity is still alive

                                                     We The People

 We the people

are the revolution

in the way we stand

and speak

for truth

for justice

shoulder to shoulder

heart to heart

human to human

we the people

who refuse

the hardening of the heart

who see clearly

the dark shadow

of racism

of cruelty

of grandiose entitlement-

and do not turn away

we the people

participants

in a collective response

for justice

and truth

willing to be the change

willing to hold hope

as something we carry together

we the people

are the revolution
