The Heart of Humanity

I believe in the heart of humanity

to rise.

To meet the strife of this world

that we all feel-

in our bodies,

in the air,

in the pain and suffering

we are each carrying

In some way.

The old ways are cracking,

 unravelling at the seams.

It is painful-

but necessary.

Like the butterfly

emerging from its cocoon-

slow,

emergent,

a process that cannot be rushed.

Like birth too-

dark,

uncertain,

messy,

difficult,

and on the other side,

a new life

forged through faith

and fortitude.

And even here,

amidst all that is heavy,

we can lift our gaze-

toward the hope

and the possibility

of a new way.

Toward the evolutionary impulse

that calls us

back to what is true

and good.

This is the work being asked of us now-

both personal and shared.

To remember

that the heart of humanity

has not left us.

And that together

we can rise

toward a wiser

more harmonious way.
