11 Things I Wish I Could Have Told My Younger Self

1. No-one Will Ever Know You Better Than Yourself

You will spend many years looking outside of yourself for answers - seeking validation, following people’s advice and at times even doubting your own inner voice. You are the one who lives in your body, who feels what you feel, who sees the world through your own unique eyes and perspective. Trust yourself  - you are wiser than you think.

2. Your Sensitivity Is A Gift Not A Weakness

There will be times when you feel like you are “too much” - too intense, too emotional, too affected by the world - but your sensitivity is a gift, not a flaw. It allows you to feel deeply and connect in ways that others cannot. The world needs sensitive souls and you must learn to honor it, not hide or shrink.

3. Choose Your Friends And Community Carefully - Quality Over Quantity

Not everyone is meant to walk beside you for a lifetime - some will come and go, and that’s ok. Having the right friends is more important than having a large group. Choose the ones who really see you, celebrate you, and stand beside you in both your joy and your pain. A few real, soul-nourishing friendships will always be worth more than a crowd of half hearted connections. Seek out communities and connections that affirm and support you and remind you that you are not alone.

4. Your Body Is Your Container For This Lifetime And Not A Problem To Be Fixed

There will be times when you stand in front of the mirror and wish you could change your body. But your body is not a project. It is enough as it is. It is your house for this lifetime - treat it with kindness and respect and stop fighting against it.

5. Back Yourself - Even When No-one Else Does

There will be times when no one else understands your vision and you’ll be tempted to doubt yourself, just because others do. But no one else is living your life , if you believe in something BACK YOURSELF regardless of what others think or say.

6. You Don’t  Have To Earn Love

Love is not something you have to earn, chase or fight for and it’s not a reward for being perfect. You are worthy of love simply because you exist. You don’t need to perform, achieve, or contort yourself to be lovable. You already are. Find love that is steady and safe because it will hold you through the challenges of your life.

7. You Are Allowed To Change

Not everyone will understand your choices, values or your heart. You never need to convince, explain, justify or seek approval for being who you are or for making certain choices which might mean change. As you grow and evolve change is inevitable, even though some people won’t understand it or agree. You will outgrow people, places, jobs and even versions of yourself - let it all be ok.

8. Travel - See The World -Get Off The Beaten Track

Go. Explore. The world is vast and full of adventure. Learn new languages. Meet new people. You are not meant to stay in one place forever. Travel will teach you more than any classroom ever will. It will remind you of how small you are and how big the world is.

9. Your Voice Matters

Even if it shakes, speak your truth. Your perspective is valuable and deserves to be heard.

10. Trust Your Journey

Life happens through you not to you. Every experience, even the painful ones, contribute to your growth and evolution. Trust that you are unfolding exactly as you are meant to.

11. Remember Your True Essence

At your core, you are a spiritual being navigating the human journey. Amidst the complexities of daily life, it’s vital to reconnect with your inner spirit - the wellspring of wisdom, peace and authenticity. Regularly nurturing this connection helps you stay grounded and resilient as you embrace the full spectrum of the human experience. Your heart is the bridge between your human experience and your spiritual essence and will serve as your compass, guiding you through life’s journey with compassion, kindness and authenticity.
