What Is An Invocation - and Why it Matters in Spiritual Practice
An invocation is a sacred act of calling in.
It is an intentional act where we slow down, pause, and consciously open ourselves to qualities we wish to remember, embody, or cultivate.
In many spiritual traditions, invocation is not just about asking for something - it’s about entering into relationship. With the Divine. With the deeper Self.
To invoke is to invite something sacred into our awareness. Where we step out of the mundane and into the mystical.
WHY WE INVOKE
We invoke not because we are empty or lacking, but because we are remembering. We are choosing to align with something deeper and more timeless than our current circumstances or our conditioned thoughts.
Invocation works because:
* What we name, we honour.
* What we honour, we become more attuned to.
* What we attune to, we begin to embody.
HOW INVOCATION IS DIFFERENT FROM MANIFESTING
Invocation is different to what we see and hear in influencer-style “manifestation” culture. Where the focus is usually on personal gain - wealth, success, aesthetics, or the curated dream life.
It often relies on individual effort, bypassing structural reality, and implies that if you’re not “attracting” what you want, it’s your fault.
This mind-set is often steeped in white privilege, spiritual consumerism, and a transactional view of the universe. “Think positive. Raise your vibration. Get what you want.”
Invocation is not a shopping list for the universe.
It is not about manifesting more “stuff”.
It is about remembering who we are and what we carry.
It is an intentional practice of turning inward and upward at the same time.
Invocation is about embodying the qualities we long for - not demanding outcomes but aligning ourselves with what is real and true.
INVOKING LAKSHMI: THE EMBODIMENT OF ABUNDANCE AND BEAUTY
In our upcoming INVOCATION TO LAKSHMI workshop, we are calling not just a deity, but a living field of energy: one of nourishment, beauty, spiritual prosperity, and sacred feminine.
Lakshmi, in the Hindu tradition, is not simply the goddess of wealth - she is the embodiment of grace, creativity, generosity, and abundance in all forms. She reminds us that beauty is not shallow, it is spiritually intelligent. That true wealth includes wholeness, relationship and moral beauty.
To invoke Lakshmi is to remember:
* That we are allowed to receive - not only give.
* That abundance can be slow, sufficient and soul-led.
* That our inner riches matter just as much as any external success.
THIS INNER WORK MATTERS MORE THAN EVER.
We live in a world of hustle, striving and always wanting more. Lakshmi calls us to soften, slow down, and to honour the cycles of giving and receiving.
This workshop is a space to:
* Attune to the energy of Lakshmi through ritual, chanting and embodied practice.
* Explore where we have become disconnected from receptivity, inner nourishment and sufficiency.
* Call in the qualities we long to live by: grace, humility, steadiness, inner beauty and enoughness.
To invoke is not to chase.
It is to open and honour.
To become available to the deeper rhythm of life.
TO INVOKE LAKSHMI IS TO CALL YOURSELF HOME AND TO REMEMBER THAT ABUNDANCE IS ALREADY WITHIN YOU.
I hope you can join us on the mat for a soulful and connected afternoon of ritual and reflection.
